| Step One - The
first menu is called "Choose Project Type." In the "Create
New Category" section, choose "File Studio." If you
or another user has previously created Stream Author Presentations
on your PC, you can open them in the lower "Open Existing Project"
section.
Step Two - Your first "File Studio"
menu will follow, giving you the option of preselecting Video/Audio
files and/or Slide files to begin your presentation with. If you
have already decided which files you wish to use during your presentation,
this menu is a convenient place to select them. Remember though
that you can always add new files to your presentation library later.
If you would rather start your presentation without pre-loading
any files, you may choose to skip this step completely.
Step Three - After selecting your initial
File Studio files, StreamAuthor will ask you select your Presentation
Style. This controls some aspects of the visual appearance of your
presentation, including the locations and size of your video &
slide window and table of contents (TOC) window. The CSS templates
offer an attractive, consistent look where the presentation viewers
cannot change window sizes. Multiple Frame Window templates use
'frames' that allow users to customize the appearance of your presentation.
This window also gives you the option of using two separate slide
windows during your presentation (note: for the purpose of this
tutorial, the default selection of only one slide window will be
chosen).

Step Four - Once you have selected the Presentation Style,
you will be asked to choose a Template. There are numerous template
designs to choose from. Please keep in mind that it is possible
to change your template at any time and that different templates
can be used throughout the same Presentation. Make your selection
and click the 'Finish' button to continue to the main StreamAuthor
program screen.
Step Five - StreamAuthor will process
any of the files that you chose in Step Two and add them to the
appropriate library (Media or Slides). This may take a few moments,
depending on the size and number of files you selected. This is
an excellent time to preview your video and navigate through your
slide file(s) to familiarize yourself with the controls. By clicking
on items in the "Slide Library" or "Video Library"
you can preview them in the File Studio screen. Double-clicking
will add the selected item to the timeline.
