Synchronizing
Video Content with Slides
|
Now that you've added some files to the Timeline,
you'll want to synchronize them. There are two different methods
for synchronization: (Note: you must be in the "File Studio"
mode, not the "Preview" mode.)
Stopped Video Method
1. You can simply Drag 'n' Drop your slide files onto
the "Slide 1" track of the Timeline.
2. If you would like a place the file on the timeline with a little
more precision, with the video stopped (or paused) you can drag
the yellow time marker to your preferred location.
3. Once you have marked the desired time, you can add a new slide
by double-clicking on or right-clicking on the slide file in the
library.
If you add the new slide over top of an existing slide,
StreamAuthor will adjust neighboring slides on the timeline to accommodate
it.

Playing Video Method
The preferred synchronization method is to play the
video and add slide files "on-the-fly". This method lets
you watch the video and with a simple mouse-click initiate the transition
to the next slide.
1. Move the Time Marker to the start of the timeline,
or to another preferred location.
2. In the Library panel, single-click the slide that you wish to
add first.
3. Press the Play.
4. When you would like to add a new slide, click on the Apply button.

Add
New Slides to the Timeline with the Apply Next button
|
|
With your slides sequentially organized, adding the
next slide is as simple as clicking on the "Apply Next"
button. Precisely when you should push the button depends on you
and your presentation. Organizing your slides in sequence before
starting can save you a lot of time. Otherwise, you'll constantly
need to navigate through your slides, select the appropriate one
and click on the "Apply" button. Sometimes this can be
difficult to do well, especially if the Video file is still playing.
If your slides are sequentially organized in the library you will
only need to wait for the right moment and click on the "Apply
Next" button.
If you find that some of your synchronization attempts
were initiated too early or too late, you can modify their position
on the timeline. By clicking on and dragging an existing timeline
item, it maintains its original length, but modifies the times of
surrounding slides. By placing the mouse cursor between two slides
so that the horizontal resize (double-arrow) cursor appears, you
can adjust the time for those two slides without changing other
slides.
