I have used PowerDirector since Version 7. I have been using Powerdirector 9 Ultra for the last two years. I am trying out the new PowerDirector 11 Ultimate which is a part of the new Creative Director Family.

My first thoughts are PowerDirector 11 Ultimate has several improvements. The Creative Director Family consists of PowerDirector 11, PhotoDirector 4, ColorDirector and Audio Director.

The Powerdirector 11 interface is re-designed for ease of use. There are several improvements, everywindow now is resizable.

Color Director is a new tool in the Cyberlink family, it has the tools that video creators have wished for.It does adjustments to the color of videos. Color Director has no rotation tool, only color adjustments. The color adjustments are shades of tint and exposure corrections.

AudioDirector 3 is a new Audio Editing tool that has advanced tools, it is a great replacement for Wave Editor.

Powerdirector 11 Ultimate
The Create disk module now lets you change or Name the Folder for Disk Creation. It creates another subfolder level, but still has the default name of "My Video" which cannot be changed.

The folder structure:
\NewName\My Video\AUDIO_TS
\NewName\My Video\VIDEO_TS

Using Power Tools, Video Speed now goes to a Maximum of 1000X. That is a huge increase,Powerdirector 9 and 10 had a Maximum Video Speed adjustment of 10X.

Video Speed slow motion is still 0.1X, you can go 1/10 the normal speed slow motion.

PIP Designer is completely resigned and is now a resizable window that can be maximized. it gives the option of skewing the PIP object. Like a trapezoid, Exactly one pair of parallel sides. Small on one end, large on the other end. Earlier versions of Powerdirector did not have the ability to skew, only a square or rectangle.

The Title Designer is completely redesigned, now a resizable window. You can even click on a maximize button that will make the title designer full screen.

I have used the Voice Over to record a narration to a picture or video, works very well, getting the audio level correct takes adjusting in Windows Sound Manager and in the Powerdirector Voice Over Room.

Powerdirector 11 has a Paint drawing tool similar to the one in Powerdirector 10. It is hard to draw a straight line using a mouse, there are no key strokes to restrict the line to vertical or horizontal directions. You can draw lines on a background such as a road map.

Powerdirector 11 PIP room has several pre-drawn Paint Animations to choose from.

Conclusion:
Powerdirector 11 is a continuation of the Powerdirector line of reasonable priced Consumer Video Editors for the Windows platform. It gives good value for the price. The Creative Director Family of programs adds support for Video Editors to use integrated tools in their editing.
