What can I do if the CyberLink Cleaner Tool (.exe) always opened with Notepad and cannot execute?

When you use the CyberLink Cleaner Tool, which is an EXE file, if opended with Notepad and does not execute, please try the following:

Windows 7:

  1. Open [Control Panel]
  2. Select [Programs]
    Program

  3. Select [Make a file type always open in a specific program]Make a file type always open in specific program

  4. Select [.vbs] under Name Colum


  5. Click [Change program…]

  6. Select [Microsoft ® Windows Based Script Host] and then click [OK]

    If you cannot find Microsoft ® Windows Based Script Host in Windows 7, please try clicking [Browse], select the execution file [C:\Windows\System32\wscript.exe], and then click [OK].


  7. Close the control panel
  8. Try to double click and run the CLCleaner.exe again.

Windows XP:

  1. Open [Control Panel]
  2. Double click to open [Folder Optional]
    Folder Optional

  3. Select [File Type] tab
  4. Select [.vbs] under Name Colum


  5. Click [Change program…]
  6. Select [Microsoft ® Windows Based Script Host] then click [OK]

    If user cannot find Microsoft ® Windows Based Script Host in Windows 7, please try: click [Browse] then select the execution file [C:\Windows\System32\wscript.exe] then click [OK].

  7. Close the control panel
  8. Try to double click and run the CLCleaner.exe again.

Note: The CyberLink Cleaner Tool does not entirely remove a CyberLink program, but helps resolve the installation issues.
