Keith Peskosky holds many roles: musician, electrical engineer, adventurer, and media editor. With his outdoor activities including SCUBA diving, kite & land boarding, mountain biking, and surfing, it is pretty obvious that he is not afraid of challenges. But when he proposed last year to Ellie, his girlfriend and action sports partner, Keith faced two new and more exciting roles to play: fiancé and husband.
Keith understood that a woman's wedding day is undoubtedly the most important day of her life, and her first dance with the groom is supposed to be an unforgettably special moment. Keith and Ellie decided to perform and record their own wedding music video for their first dance.
Working together, Keith and Ellie recorded their own heartfelt version of the song Mr. & Mrs. Beautiful by the band The Workday Release. Keith used his musical producing and video editing skills to create a video that is imbued with creativity, fun, romance, and... hang gliding?
Keith says the most challenging part of editing this video was "synchronizing the separately recorded audio and video sources. PowerDirector's audio sync function streamlined this process and aligned the tracks perfectly."
We asked Keith some questions about video editing in general, and PowerDirector in particular. Keith offered several reasons why he uses PowerDirector for his video work. He finds the multicam audio sync function to be very useful for his many music-related projects. Additionally, he often uses the stabilizer function to smooth out shaky video footage. He says it is almost indispensable when shooting GoPro extreme-action videos (Keith uses a GoPro Hero 3 Black, and it certainly sees a lot of action!)
Keith has also found that when PowerDirector is paired with ColorDirector and AudioDirector, his creative options are limitless. Keith says, "Moving between the three programs is seamless, and I especially like the option of the full HD real time preview when shadow files are enabled. The HD real time preview is favorable when I make minor changes in ColorDirector and can see the impact immediately."
Mixing traditional and modern approaches, Keith gets on one knee - then fires up his video editor!
In addition to the GoPro, Keith packs a Nikon D3200 with lenses AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm VR and AF-S Nikkor 55-200mm ED VR along with an Altura External Flash. For underwater shots, he uses a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 with a dive case.
As husband and wife, Keith and Ellie have not let the adventures stop – or the videos! On a recent trip to North Carolina, the outdoor action was fast and plentiful. The breathtaking activities included white water rafting, a ropes course, rappelling, and... well, check out the video below.
An action-packed trip! The white water rafting and the high ropes courses were at the United States National Whitewater Center and the rappelling was at Pilot Mountain and Linville Gorge.
We look forward to more exciting action sports videos from Keith and Ellie in the future. For those who want to start making their own videos, Keith offers this advice: "When you are stuck, don't give up. There are forums, YouTube channels (like PDTOOTS and Video Editing Software Guide), fellow editors, and of course Cyberlink, who can guide you through learning PowerDirector and become a video editing master!"
Very romantic. But most couples will probably stick with golf or tennis or something.
