Error message: "A disc with an unsupported format in drive." when playing back a Blu-ray Disc title in CyberLink PowerDVD. What should I do?


CyberLink PowerDVD pops up the error message "A disc with an unsupported format in drive.” when playing back a Blu-ray Disc title.



Scenario 1: There is a conflict between CyberLink PowerDVD and your antivirus software.

Please do the following:

  • Turn off the antivirus software.
  • Reinstall CyberLink PowerDVD and then update it to the latest version from here.


Scenario 2: Your Graphics card driver is not fully compatible with BD playback.

Please download and install the latest drivers from the AMD / NVIDIA / Intel’s websites. It is recommended that you do not use the graphics card drivers that are auto installed by Windows.


Scenario 3: The Blu-ray Disc is damaged.

A Blu-ray Disc is easier to scratch and leave fingerprints on compared than with a DVD or CD.
Slight scratched or fingerprints cause deterioration of the data error.

To verify if the Blu-ray Disc entrance surface is scratched or not, please follow the steps below:

  1. Insert the Blu-ray Disc into your drive.
  2. Click Start, and then click Computer.
  3. Select the your Blu-ray Disc drive and then check if Windows can read the files on the disc.
