CyberLink TV Server DLNA Certified, Enables TV Sharing within the Digital Home

Taipei, Taiwan----September 25, 2006----CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader in digital home solutions, announced today that CyberLink TV Server, the UPnP server for streaming TV content, has received DLNA certification.

CyberLink TV Server supports the interoperability specifications that allow DLNA-certified devices, such as PCs, PDAs, mobile phones, and other CE devices, to share TV content via UPnP connectivity. CyberLink's other DLNA-certified products include UPnP-client software CyberLink SoftDMA and UPnP-server software CyberLink Media Server.

By using CyberLink TV Server as a server on one PC and CyberLink SoftDMA as a client on another, users can stream their TV content from the server PC to the client PC. CyberLink's solution also supports wireless and wired connectivity to enable the sharing of TV content between different rooms in the digital home.

"TV and video remain the leading forms of entertainment within the home, and what TV Server offers is a way to share and access that content beyond the traditional television unit," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "DLNA certification positions TV Server as a leading content-enabler for the PC, and extends CyberLink's core expertise to the innovative use of providing "anywhere access" for TV content throughout the home."

CyberLink TV offers the following breakthrough technologies:

  • A UPnP Server for Sharing Streamed TV Programs with Other Devices
CyberLink TV Server lets users turn their PCs into a media hub allowing access to TV programs via a UPnP network. CyberLink TV Server works in conjunction with a media client—like CyberLink SoftDMA—enabling access to content stored on a PC. CyberLink TV Server simultaneously supports multiple devices across a wired or wireless network, ensuring greater flexibility in sharing content within the digital home.
  • Support for High Definition Video and MPEG-2 Streaming Formats
CyberLink TV Server enables the playback of quality video content with support for WMV-HD and MPEG-2, and streams video using the DVR-MS format.

More information about CyberLink's digital connectivity solutions is available in the Press Room. CyberLink SoftDMA, TV Server and Media Server are listed on the DLNA certification website.
