CyberLink Introduces MagicSports 3.5 Featuring a New Way of Watching Sumo Wrestling Matches

Unique video content analysis technology offers innovative ways of watching TV sports videos, now including sumo wrestling

Taipei, Taiwan----February 1, 2007----CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader in digital home solutions, today announced the release of CyberLink MagicSports 3.5, consumer software for identifying and playing key sumo highlights from recorded TV programs.

CyberLink MagicSports 3.5 features a new module that intelligently analyzes recorded sumo programs, extracts the most exciting moments from each game and then creates clips to save and watch later, or share with family and friends. MagicSports allows users to quickly browse the best parts of a game via an onscreen menu then start playing the game from the beginning of the highlight.

MagicSports identifies highlights using CyberLink MagicScene™ technology. The technology includes a sports analysis algorithm that processes video and audio signals to locate the most exciting highlights and then produces a clip to repeatedly enjoy and share. With the debut of this version, consumers can now enjoy sumo highlights as well as baseball and soccer highlight clips already offered in previous versions.

"CyberLink MagicSports 3.5 lets sports fans relive the highlights of their favorite games and is perfect for today's busy consumer," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "CyberLink has applied advanced video analysis techniques to create a new way of watching sumo wrestling matches; instead of fast-forwarding their recorded videos, users can now browse a visual menu for their favorite highlights."

CyberLink MagicSports 3.5 uses the following key game events to determine interesting highlights:

  • Game begins: Gets right to the action and skips long introductions

  • Competitors' names on screen: Finds the best action moments and information accompanied by competitor's names appearing onscreen

CyberLink MagicSports is "Vista ready" and is compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition and CyberLink PowerCinema. MagicSports enhances the TV recording features of both products by analyzing and identifying key sumo game events.
