PowerCinema transforms a PC into a media entertainment center and allows operation via remote control. NEW features at Computex Taipei 2004 include:
1. UPnP Technology - allows access to media on other UPnP-compliant appliances
in a Digital Home
2. Digital TV - provides the capability to watch digital TV
3. TV Direct Burn - burns TV programs directly onto DVD discs
4. MakeDVD plug-in - burns video files onto a DVD using a remote control
5. State-of-the-art 3D User Interface
6. Instant On technology - supports starting PowerCinema instantly with the
push of a button on the Linux platform
7. Auto photo fixing - allows fast retouching of images

PowerCinema's seven modules - Movies, Pictures, Videos, Music, TV, Radio and Web - will now be joined by CyberLink's latest module, MakeDVD. CyberLink will also preview its latest technologies including UPnP, DTV, TV Direct Burn, 3D UI, Instant On and Auto Photo Fixing at Computex 2004.
The MakeDVD plug-in
An easy-to-use, task-based feature, MakeDVD burns a user's favorite videos onto
DVD disc using a remote control. Users who already have PowerCinema on their
computer can easily incorporate MakeDVD into their software for added convenience
and functionality, making PowerCinema a truly flexible all-in-one platform for
home entertainment.
Advanced Technologies also being previewed
1. UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)
CyberLink has partnered with IntelR to implement UPnP technology, and already
featured this capability at the Intel Developer Forum, Spring, 2004 Taipei.
Feedback so far from numerous leading OEMs was positive. UPnP technology will
be demonstrated again at Computex. PowerCinema will be setup as a digital media
client player, automatically accessing data from other verified UPnP Digital
Home devices.
2. DTV (Digital TV)
The digital TV module for PowerCinema is scheduled for release later this year
as a new option for OEM customers. This feature will work with the current analog
TV module, and all current analog TV features such as CyberLink's time-shifting
TV function will be implemented into the DTV module.
3. TV Direct Burn
TV Direct Burn, one of the new features in the PowerCinema TV module, allows
users to record and burn TV programs directly onto DVDs without hard disk buffering.
This feature speeds up transferring times and reduces hard disk requirements
for end-users.
4. 3D User Interface
Also being previewed is CyberLink's 3D user interface, part of the upcoming
PowerCinema 4. Based on Direct3D technology, CyberLink's innovative design provides
not only a cool look-and-feel it also improves the user experience. The 3D styling
features fade-in and fade-out effects to highlight the direction of navigation
while browsing folders and files.
5. Instant On Capability & Linux Support
In addition to the PowerCinema Windows version, CyberLink is currently developing
a version for Linux, supporting the Embedded Linux-based products on the Linux
2.4.x or later operating platform. At Computex, CyberLink will present the Instant
On capability of PowerCinema Linux version - which starts PowerCinema within
15 seconds with just a push of a button.
6. Auto Photo Fixing
Pictures mode has been enhanced with new photo features. PowerCinema allows
quick fine tuning of photos without complicated settings and skill. With a simple
click users can enhance brightness and contrast, remove red eyes, and rotate
their pictures. An Undo function is also included.
