Major performance gains enable rich video experiences on
PCs and notebooks
Taipei, Taiwan----December 12, 2006----CyberLink
Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader in digital home solutions, announced significant
performance gains for playing, analyzing, and producing high-quality video
content using CyberLink's leading applications on systems featuring the
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processors.
CyberLink's optimization of award-winning DVD playback software PowerDVD
improved frame-rate performance by up to 191%. Automated video editing software
PowerDirector improved editing and production times by up to 122%. Sports
analysis software MagicSports analyzed games up to 133% faster. All software
was tested in controlled conditions and was verified with significantly
improved performance on Intel's dual-core technology.
"The Intel Core 2 Duo processors deliver the world-class performance
and energy efficiency to meet the needs for applications today and the future,"
said Jason Chen, country manager of Intel Taiwan. "Intel is excited
to see consumers will be able to enjoy the outstanding multimedia experiences
by running CyberLink’s applications on Intel Core 2 Duo processor-based
PCs."
"Analysis, production, and playback of high-definition video content
are all very intensive PC activities which require the power of advanced
processors like Intel's dual core to ensure the best possible user experience,"
said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "With CyberLink's optimization
for Intel dual core processors, PowerDVD, PowerDirector and MagicSports
ensure users get the kind of performance they've come to expect from working
on video with our software; fast production, smooth playback, and quality
results."
By using a system featuring the Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6600, CyberLink
PowerDVD achieved frame rates up to 42.24 fps - thus resulting in smoother
playback - for high-definition H.264 video content. CyberLink PowerDirector
improved analysis and production speeds for automated video editing, applying
special effects, and creating Picture-in-Picture effects by up to 64 minutes
on a notebook featuring the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7400.
This performance greatly reduces video data processing time and makes video
editing a pleasant experience on the PC. CyberLink MagicSports is one of
the first consumer applications based on video analysis technology. MagicSports
analyzed a 2 hour 30 minutes sports video in less than 10 minutes on a desktop
system featuring the Intel Core 2 Duo processor E6600, down from 17 minutes
19 seconds, and less than 10 minutes on a notebook system featuring the
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7400, down from 22 minutes 33 seconds.
