CyberLink's DTCP-IP Solution Enables Playback of Japanese HDTV Content on Sony Notebooks

Taipei, Taiwan----April 4, 2006----CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader in digital home solutions, released details of it cooperation with Sony Corporation featuring a software solution that enables the playback of high-definition TV content (one time recording) on selected Sony VAIO notebooks in Japan.

This software application, based on the Digital Transmission of Content Protection over Internet Protocol (DTCP-IP) standard, has been incorporated into Sony VAIO notebooks featuring the VAIO Media entertainment software, allowing users to access Japan's ISDB-T digital television programs across their home network. In addition, the same functionality can also be enabled on a Sony VAIO desktop with an HDCP display.

CyberLink's DTCP-IP solution conforms to Japanese regulations for the distribution of digital television, as defined by the Japanese Association for Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB). According to these regulations, the sharing of content within the home is permitted, whereas the unfettered distribution of protected content to third parties outside the home is prohibited.

"CyberLink has long been a leader in the world of DVD playback on the PC," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp. "But we have now extended our capabilities to become an enabler of premium HDTV content within the digital home."
