Taipei, Taiwan----April 10, 2006----CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader in digital home solutions, has demonstrated digital TV playback received via a mobile handheld device at the Intel Developer Forum in Taipei. CyberLink will also display its mobile solution in Beijing next week.
Based on the Digital Video Broadcasting to Handhelds standard (DVB-H), CyberLink DVB-H TV Solution incorporates technologies that support the playback of audio-video bitstream and Electronic Service Guide (ESG) data to a standards-based device. CyberLink's solution is also compliant with the Convergence of Broadcast and Mobile Services (DVB-CBMS) specifications for Internet Protocol Datacasting using DVB-H.
CyberLink DVB-H TV Solution includes functionality for:
- Tuning the DVB-H receiver
- Playing HE-AAC v2 audio and H.264 video received over a broadcast carrier
- Parsing and displaying ESG data, which is XML-based content.
Key CyberLink DVB-H TV Solution features include:
- IPDemux - for capturing and de-multiplexing IP packets which can contain
either ESG-related data over a FLUTE/ALC protocol, H.264 video payload over
a RTP protocol, or HE-AAC v2 payload over a RTP protocol.
- Highly efficient H.264 video decoder for mobile devices.
- Highly efficient HE-AAC v2 audio decoder for mobile devices.
- ESG Handling - for handling ESG bootstrap data, ESG XML Fragments, Data
Repositories, etc.
- TV Application - consisting of TV A/V Presentation, DVB-H Channel Selection,
and ESG Presentation modules.
"For this IDF, CyberLink is delivering broadcast television content
to a handheld device, using an Intel® XScale® processor so that MPEG-4
H.264 video content can be played without the need of a hardware decoder,"
said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "What's more, through implementation
of Intel® Wireless MMX™ technology, CyberLink is able to boost H.264
decoding performance by up to 70%."
