Untitled Document

March 12, 2001----Taipei, Taiwan---- CyberLink, a leading developer of digital video and streaming multimedia software applications, announced today that it is releasing the latest version of PowerVCR II; the software that turns a personal computer into a TV and digital video recording center. PowerVCR II 3.0 users will be able to enjoy the program's new features and video quality enhancements for recording in VCD or DVD format, from numerous video input sources connected to the PC. Therefore, users can record TV programs, convert VHS cassettes to digital format, encode DV camcorder files in MPEG-1 or 2, and even begin the process of creating DVD titles, right at their desktop.

PowerVCR II 3.0 is the latest advancement of an award-winning software program that can record TV programs and digital video on the PC, through input sources such as, TV tuners, DV camcorders, VCR's, etc. PowerVCR II 3.0 offers an enhanced encoding engine and several new features, such as DV Camcorder Support, Instant TV Replay, Multi-Channel Preview, and much more. In addition to these enhancements, PowerVCR II 3.0 also offers Video Cut & Merge, Time-Shifting Playback, Scheduled Recording, and numerous other beneficial features. All of this, in addition to the ability to record in either DVD or VCD format (for PAL or NTSC) provides users with total control over the recording process. Plus, as a bonus, the Deluxe version comes with PowerDVD 3.0, the world acclaimed software DVD player.

"In an age of converging technology, where TV's act as PC's and PC's as TV's, PowerVCR II 3.0 offers users the ability to move beyond traditional TV recording and truly turn their PC into a digital VCR," says Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp. "PowerVCR II 3.0 offers all the advanced features and hardware support to allow users to watch and record TV programs on their PC with maximum flexibility. In addition, PowerVCR II 3.0's state-of-the-art DV Camcorder support provides unique features for encoding and adjusting their video files, not available on other hardware or software alternatives."

Providing the most advanced DV camcorder support, via IEEE 1394 or FireWire Connection, users can either use PowerVCR II 3.0 to play their DV files, or encode the contents as a pre-defined MPEG profile. As well, PowerVCR II 3.0 saves precious time and hard disk space by allowing users to directly encode their DV files in MPEG format. With other programs users need to encode in AVI format and then convert to MPEG afterwards. Plus, PowerVCR II 3.0 offers the user multiple ways to manipulate and convert DV camcorder files to their liking.

PowerVCR II 3.0 makes TV recording a simple and straightforward affair. With the assistance of a TV Tuner and Video Capture Card, users can enjoy a new kind of TV program recording on their PC. Advanced new features like Instant TV Replay allow users to pause, and rewind live television, as well as watch in slow motion, and view instant replays. Plus, PowerVCR II 3.0 now offers a useful "video wall" called Multi-Channel Preview, which allows users to view multiple TV programs on their screen as thumbnail images. Thus, they can quickly browse over the shows that are currently playing and select the one they want to watch and record. This, in addition to PowerVCR II 3.0's straightforward scheduled recording functions makes finding and recording the shows users want, a simple affair.
