April 18, 2001----Taipei, Taiwan----CyberLink, the leading developer of digital video and multimedia streaming software, is proud to announce that PowerDVD is the first and only software DVD player on the market to receive WHQL certification from Microsoft for the DirectX Video Acceleration Application Programmers Interface (DxVA) standard. This certification was recently awarded after PowerDVD passed stringent testing by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Laboratories (WHQL), based on the NVIDIA VGA card and Intel i815 chipset. It represents CyberLink's dedication to producing software of the highest quality and the continuing recognition of PowerDVD as the best solution for software DVD playback on the PC.

"We are extremely proud of this achievement due to the fact that Microsoft's DirectX VA architecture is becoming a universal interface for software video playback and will become the standard on Windows XP and all subsequent Windows OS", says Alex Weng, Product Manager for PowerDVD. "In addition, being the first software player on the market to receive this certification is also something that illustrates PowerDVD's excellent quality and compatibility with various hardware."

"CyberLink has a continuously been working with various leading PC hardware and software manufacturers in order to assure that we can provide a product with the best possible quality and support to our customers", notes Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "We feel that this is of utmost importance so that we can deliver a superior product to the market in a timely fashion, and continue to build on PowerDVD's existing record of strong hardware compatibility. This, we are confident will maintain PowerDVD as the optimal solution for software DVD playback on the PC well into the future."

With the Microsoft WHQL DirectX VA certification OEM manufacturers will receive full confidence that PowerDVD has met the necessary standard requirements by Microsoft and is fully compatible with all their Operating Systems and drivers. For other products that do not have this certification there is no assurance that they are fully compatible with DirectX VA, as well as Windows XP and subsequent OS versions.
