The steady growth of PowerDVD into the world's favorite DVD player since the launch of version 3.0 last year allows the company to award various prizes to PowerDVD users through contests and games held worldwide over the Internet. "Challenge the Gladiator"
Round 1 of the PowerDVD Movie Fan Event is titled "Challenge the Gladiator" and runs from May 18-June 29. This contest tests the participant's ability to uncover certain interesting flaws that are located throughout the film Gladiator. They will need to use PowerDVD's advanced navigational features and Digital Zoom function in order to uncover the hidden flaws, because PowerDVD offers multiple playback modes and can reveal many things about DVD titles that other software DVD players or hardware players cannot. Through this event, CyberLink celebrates the film enthusiast whose insatiable appetite for special effects and rich detail has boosted DVD entertainment into our everyday lives. This event is also sponsored by several Web sites aimed at promoting DVD entertainment: DVD Angle (dvdangle.com), DVD Easter Eggs (dvdeastereggs.com), and DVD Movie Guide (dvdmg.com).

The PowerDVD Skin Design Contest
Although the PowerDVD Skin Design Contest is now on entering its fourth round, it is now broadening its scope and welcoming new designers to enter their skin designs. Running from May 18-July 18, the contest now offers a new award for first time participants with the "New Face of Design" Award, in addition to the award for Best Overall Skin Design. This contest is focused around PowerDVD's Dynamic Skin Technology, which allows for users to change the look and feel of their user interface. With the PowerDVD Skin Design Contest, participating designers are challenged to design new skin creations for PowerDVD and submit them so they can be voted on by other PowerDVD users. In addition to providing prizes for the winners, this event also generates many new skin designs that other PowerDVD users can download and install. The event is done in part with DVDonet.com (dvdonet.com).

There will be several prizes of authentic CyberLink software awarded to the winners of these events. From all eligible entries, 20 winners will be selected in the Challenge the Gladiator event; the top five receiving a copy of PowerVCR II 3.0 and the other fifteen, their choice of two streaming multimedia software programs.

The PowerDVD Skin Design Contest will help to launch CyberLink PowerDirector, which promises to be the fastest, high-quality video editing software available for the home user market. To commemorate this latest addition to the popular digital video series, CyberLink will award two PowerDirector prize packs via a random prize drawing; one prize will be for the Best Overall Skin Design and the other will be for the "New Face of Design" Award.
