CyberLink Products Optimized for AMD A-Series APU Family

Delivering Enhanced and Ultra-fast Media Experience

Taipei, TaiwanJune 14, 2011—CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW) is excited to announce its flagship products PowerDVD, PowerDirector, MediaShow and MediaEspresso are now optimized for the latest AMD A-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) Family, spearheading the advance in providing users with hardware-accelerated HD playback, enhanced video editing, effects rendering, accelerated facial recognition and maximum video transcoding performance by utilizing AMD technology offering “supercomputer-like” performance.

PowerDVD 11
By leveraging Hardware Acceleration technology on AMD A-Series APUs, CyberLink PowerDVD 11, the universal Blu-ray and HD playback software, now enables hardware-accelerated decode for HD formats including BD3D, BD and AVCHD, as well as supports 3D playback via AMD HD3D technology. PowerDVD 11 enables users to experience smoother Full HD/ 3D 1080p playback with ultra low CPU usage (*1).

PowerDirector 9
Optimized for AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) Technology supported by A-Series APUs, CyberLink PowerDirector 9 – the world’s first 64-bit consumer video editing software – offers up to 2.2x faster video rendering speed and reduces transcoding time by half (*2), bringing users faster and better experience while producing professional-looking videos.

MediaShow 5
Using DirectX 11 DirectCompute acceleration on PCs powered by AMD A-Series APUs, CyberLink MediaShow 5, a fast and easy photo/video organizer, enables accelerated facial recognition up to 1.2X faster (*3), making it super easy and quick to find people from a large volume of photos and create memorable slideshows with less processing time.

MediaEspresso 6.5
MediaEspresso 6.5, universal media conversion software, now offers ultra-fast transcoding capability by leveraging both hardware decoding and encoding on AMD A-Series APUs, enabling consumers to enjoy 1.9X speedup in performance (*4), significantly reducing waiting time while giving users more time to share and enjoy their HD videos.

“CyberLink is always striving to innovate the next generation of technology that creates the best consumer media entertainment experience possible,” said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp. “We are delighted to leverage AMD’s high-end A-Series APUs on CyberLink’s complete product lineup to deliver enhanced and ultra-fast media experiences for consumers.”

“We are excited to work closely with CyberLink on its flagship products optimized for AMD A-Series APUs, enabling their customers to enjoy supercharged performance, brilliant HD and support for DirectX 11," said John Taylor, director, Client Product and Software Marketing, AMD (NYSE: AMD). “Bringing a theater-quality experience into the home or on the go is an excellent example of the type of must-have consumer application that APUs are designed to accelerate.”

*1: Benchmark tests are based on a repeatable environment. The tests are performed on machine #1, using AMD A-Series APU Family running at 1.8GHz and Windows 7 OS with 4GB RAM. CPU usage during playback is as low as 12.95% for BD3D (MVC), 10.6% for BD(H.264), 9.4% for BD(MPEG-2) and 10.22% for BD(VC-1).
*2: Testing was performed on machine #1. With APP Effect & APP Encode on, the transcoding time of pencil sketch mode is 2.2X faster than APP Effect & APP Encode off.
*3: Testing was performed on machine #1. With DX11 DirectCompute Acceleration on, the face tagging is 1.2X faster than DX11 DirectCompute Acceleration off.
*4: Testing was performed on machine #1. When converting MPEG-2 1080P to H.264, the transcoding speed is 1.9X faster with HW acceleration on.
