CyberLink High-Definition Digital TV decoders provide highest quality video decoding for demonstration of advanced DTV recording solutions.

Taipei, Taiwan ---- January 13, 2003 ---- CyberLink Corp., a leading software developer of digital video entertainment applications and advanced video/audio technology, announced that it has collaborated with ATI Technologies and HP to demonstrate what is possible when its advanced PC technologies are applied to the processing, display, and recording of High-Definition TV programming.

Video and audio software decoders, which are provided by CyberLink, are critical in delivering full HDTV performance. Based on the decoders in CyberLink's industry-leading PowerDVD XP software, these software modules are optimized for the task of picture-perfect, yet highly efficient, decoding of HDTV sources.

"CyberLink has always been recognized for the highest quality playback of DVD sources on PCs," says Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "Working together with ATI and HP, some of our most strategic customers, we are excited and pleased to extend this technical leadership into the new frontier of HDTV."

After decoding, output to the HDTV display is provided by ATI's advanced RADEON ? 9700 Pro video board, which provides full HDTV resolution, superior video quality, and on-board hardware acceleration for the video decoder.

"ATI is very happy to deliver very cost-effective component output displays for HD televisions in our RADEON 9700 Pro family," says Godfrey Cheng, Director of Multimedia Marketing for ATI. "This is a critical capability as more PCs are integrated into advanced entertainment systems."

With a memory module containing over 1 terabyte of storage, the HP Digital Media Recorder HD can store more than 100 hours of HDTV content and 1,000 hours of standard definition TV. Using HP's high-speed recordable DVD+R/RW drive, a single DVD can be used to store 30 minutes of HDTV content at the broadcast rate -- and up to 5 hours with technologies under development.

"CyberLink's decoding software made possible the high-capacity, high-quality HDTV content playback from DVD+R/RW," said Chris Pedersen, Director of Advanced Development, HP Personal Systems Group.

Along with its DVD playback, Personal Video Recorder (PVR), video editing, and DVD authoring applications, CyberLink's HDTV decoder technology is available to OEMs world-wide for integration into advanced multi-media PCs and key components, such as video boards and optical drives.
