CyberLink PowerBackup 2 Simplifies Data Archiving with New Backup Options, File Filtering and Restoration Features

Stream to Disc archiving technology minimizes hard disk requirements

Taipei, Taiwan----September 15, 2005----CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader and pioneer in providing integrated solutions for the Digital Home, announced today its CyberLink PowerBackup software provides new features designed to make archiving and data restoration faster and easier.

The new features let users choose between archiving files and folders or application data, filter in or out their desired file types, and include a restorer utility to enable file restoration without using PowerBackup.

PowerBackup's unique Stream to Disc archiving technology minimizes hard disk requirements and saves the time normally taken to copy files to a hard drive by compressing and burning directly to DVD, without needing to create a temporary archive file on the user's hard disk.

"CyberLink has improved the archiving process by giving users better control over how they backup and restore their data," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "With only four steps for both backing up and restoring files, even inexperienced computer users will find that PowerBackup removes the hassle out of protecting precious data."

CyberLink's latest version offers the following new and improved features:
Application Data Backup lets users archive their Internet and email data, allowing the back up of Internet Explorer favorites and cookies; Outlook Express mail folders, settings and Address Book; Outlook mail and settings.
Advanced File Filtering saves time and disc space by allowing users to choose the file types they wish to include or exclude from their backup process.
Include Restorer Utility enables users to restore data without the need for the original PowerBackup program that created the archive, by creating a single executable file during the backup process.

PowerBackup also supports burning to double-layer discs and includes a range of practical features such as appending or overwriting data on discs, three levels of compression, and password protection. Files are easily restored with options like overwriting older files or restoring only those files that have been deleted from a user's computer.
