CyberLink PowerEncoder Supports Conversion of Videos to MPEG-4 SP Format for Playback on Sony PSP

Taipei, Taiwan----26 October, 2005----CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader and pioneer in providing integrated solutions for the Digital Home, today released CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition 1.5, a consumer application for capturing and converting video which now includes output using the MPEG-4 Simple Profile (SP) and MPEG-4 Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) formats.

MPEG-4 Simple Profile (SP) is designed primarily for devices with low processing power such as mobile and wireless devices, and is ideally suited for video telephony, video-conferencing, or real-time desktop software encoding.

MPEG-4 SP, also known as MPEG-4 Part 2, and MPEG-4 AAC, are key video formats adopted by Sony for its handheld entertainment device the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP). CyberLink has officially licensed Sony’s Memory Stick Video Format, allowing users to convert files to MPEG-4 SP, store them on their Memory Stick, and then play them on their Sony PSP.

"CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition 1.5 provides a really convenient way to convert video content for playback on devices like the Sony PSP," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. "Whether users are converting files into H.264, DivX or MPEG-4 SP formats, they will save huge amounts of storage space while preserving their image quality."

CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition 1.5 delivers the following features:
- Superb Video Quality and Advanced Compression
The MPEG-4 AVC and MPEG-4 SP formats achieve substantial superiority of video quality when files are compressed. CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition 1.5 can therefore preserve high quality video at low bit rates.

- Compliance with Sony's Memory Stick Video Format
CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition 1.5 supports Sony's Memory Stick Video Format, enabling the creation of low bitrate video content for playback on Memory Stick-compatible mobile devices.

- Broad Support for Existing Video Formats
CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition 1.5 allows video conversion from popular video formats, including: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, DivX, VOB, and DV-AVI. It also supports the converting of DVD video files with Dolby Digital* audio, letting users convert movie discs into MPEG-4 SP format featuring MPEG-4 AAC, or MPEG-4 AVC format including stereo audio.

- Prepared for Next-Generation Video Content
The release of CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition 1.5 prepares OEM customers for the widespread introduction of products and services based on the MPEG-4 AVC and MPEG-4 SP formats. These include Blu-ray and HD DVDs, transmission of TV over DSL connections and digital terrestrial TV, the transmission of multiple high-definition video programs via satellite or cable services, and video playback via mobile phone systems and other portable devices.

- Easy Previewing and Quick Conversion of Video Files
CyberLink PowerEncoder MPEG-4 AVC Edition 1.5 features a Media Viewer, letting users play converted video files without having to launch Windows Media Player or PowerEncoder. Meanwhile, CyberLink video technology DV QuickScan, greatly improves the speed and ease of digital video previewing and capturing.
