CyberLink's PowerDVD Chosen as the Premier DVD Software Solution for Notebooks!

According to Alex Weng, Product Manager at CyberLink, PowerDVD is an excellent solution for Notebook manufacturers due to a number of reasons. For one thing, PowerDVD takes advantage of the new instruction set defined by Intel (SSE; Streaming SIMD Extensions) and AMD (3DNow! and Enhanced 3DNow!). So for notebooks using Intel Pentium III/Celeron with SSE or AMD K6-2/K6-2+, the CPU utilization can be lowered. This is a real benefit to Notebook manufacturers for the fact that notebooks are generally not that powerful compared with desktop systems with an equal CPU clock.

In addition, PowerDVD also supports the motion compensation hardware in all major notebook display chips, such as S3 Savage MX/IX, ATI Rage LT Pro and Trident 9525DVD, to again lower the CPU consumption. Finally, Alex Weng notes that PowerDVD is fully compatible with ACPI technology, which is adopted by major notebook manufacturers to perform notebook power management. The notebook can be suspended while PowerDVD is playing a movie and can be woken up later to continue playing, without any glitches.
