CyberLink Releases PowerVCR II, the MPEG-1 and 2 Video and TV Program Recording Software

June 1, 2000----Taipei, Taiwan---- In the digital age, everything is going digital. CyberLink, a leading Internet, audio/video software application developer, will be releasing PowerVCR II, the software that turns the desktop computer into a digital video center. PowerVCR II features convenient and productive ways to record TV programs. It is capable of recording raw video data from any video source, such as VCRs, TV tuners, handy camcorders or PC cameras, into MPEG-1 or MPEG-2digital formats in real-time. The once a very expensive solution is now made affordable to everyone.

Together with the i-Power Internet connection to the Internet Electronic Program Guide, PowerVCR II allows users to easily check up TV programs and load pre-schedule recording settings. PowerVCR II also features time-shifting playback, video clip concatenating functions and AVI-to-MPEG-1/2 conversion functions. It also comes with PowerDVD, the most powerful DVD playback software.

Real Time Recording Feature
With PowerVCR II users can now record video files and transfer them directly to the computer in a compressed MPEG-1 or 2 format. Therefore, there is no need to convert AVI files, which will save users time a computer file space.

i-Power, the one-click to the PowerVCR Desktop Portal
From right within the application itself, PowerVCR II features the i-Power function that activates the PowerVCR II desktop Portal Page. The PowerVCR II Desktop Portal Page contains a gamut of on-line resources for digital video recording extending users resources to the most updated information on line.

Pre-Schedule Recording
The PowerVCR II Desktop Portal Page features direct connection to iEPG (internet electronic program guide) services, allowing users to look up TV programs and easily load pre-scheduled TV recording settings. PowerVCR II allows users to preset recording time, time length, frequency, and channel selection.

Time-Shifting Playback
PowerVCR II allows users to watch the beginning of a recorded program while recording is still in progress. It also features full-screen Time-shifting playback and allows fast playback even when recording is in progress.

Versions Available
PowerVCR II comes in three versions and marketed in different ways:

PowerVCR II Deluxe: This is the full version sold in retail packages and electronic downloads. This version allows users to record MPEG-1/2 video in real time, concatenate video clips, convert AVI files and includes PowerDVD Playback software.

PowerVCR II: This is the bundle version and can be marketed by hardware suppliers to be included in their hardware product packages. This version allows users to record MPEG-1/2 in real time.

PowerVCR: This is also a bundled version and will be offered to hardware vendors who wants to create added value to their hardware products. This version allows users to record MPEG-1 video in real-time.
