What You Can Do with AI Text-Based Editing

Transcribe Your Clip and Cut by Deleting Text

Transcribe Your Clip and Cut by Deleting Text

AI transcribes the speech in your clip, then you edit the words instead of the clip. Delete a sentence and the matching footage goes with it, so you never scrub the timeline hunting for a bad take. Works in English, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, and Traditional Chinese.

When the transcript reads the way you want, send it to the timeline and keep going. Your words carry over as subtitles, and the trimmed clip drops onto a real timeline where you can add motion tracking, color grading, and multi-track audio before you export.

AI Text-Based Editing FAQ

AI text-based editing turns the speech in your video into an editable transcript, then ties every word back to the footage it came from. Delete a line of text and that piece of video disappears with it, so you cut by reading instead of scrubbing through a timeline.

Double-click your clip, open Text-Based Editing from Edit, pick the spoken language, and click Generate. Delete the words you do not want, clear the pauses, then click Add to Timeline to bring the trimmed clip back into your project.

Transcription covers English, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Korean, and Portuguese.

Yes. When the AI generates your transcript it flags the pauses and dead air, and Remove All Pauses clears them across the whole clip in a single click.

AI Text-Based Editing spends credits on each transcript, based on how long your clip is. You can download PowerDirector free and claim daily free credits to try the feature and the editor first.
