How to Adjust Profile Settings & Real-time Capturing

Before you start capturing videos from your DV camcorder, you need to select the desired capture profiles, such as video format, encoding speed, or the type of movie disc you wish to produce. If you do not have the adequate computer power to process the large amount of high quality video capturing, switch from Real-time to Non Real-time capture

Adjust Profile Setup

Click on the Profile Setup menu to adjust your profile settings.

In this menu, you can select the type of output format for your captured video. Beginners may use the "Video for Movie Disc Production" option, and advanced users may wish to use the "Video for General Purpose" options.

  • Video for Movie Disc Production: Choose which type of movie disc you want to create: DVD, VCD, SVCD or MiniDVD. Then choose between a high quality or fast encoding process.
  • Video for General Purpose: You can choose between different video file formats (MPEG-1, 2, and AVI), speed for encoding process, and the different preset profiles in the program. You can even customize your own capture profiles simply by selecting an existing profile and clicking on the NEW button.

To create your own profile, you have to name your profile, select your video size, adjust the video compression rate, the speed/quality indicator, and the audio compression rate.

Select Real-time or Non Real-time Capturing

Normally, the encoding process during video capture requires a lot of computer processing power; especially when encoding in real-time. Capturing in real-time, means the program is encoding the exact same content as what the program is displaying in the Preview Window. In some cases, real-time capturing may lose frames due to inadequate computer processing power. However, capturing in non real-time allows the program to take a longer time to process the encoding of the captured content, as the program utilizes a buffer for capturing. Therefore, non real-time capturing consumes less CPU power. This is ideal for those who desire high quality capturing but do not possess the adequate computer process power.
