FaceMeTM Achieves 98.41 Percent Accuracy and Rates as a Top 20 Facial Recognition Engine
Providing a Ready-to-Use SDK Solution for Smart AloT Applications
Taipei, Taiwan—November 5, 2018—World-renowned facial recognition competition MegaFace Challenge announced today CyberLink Corp.’s FaceMeTM Facial Recognition Engine is within the world’s top 20 most accurate facial recognition technologies, with a true acceptance rate (TAR) of up to 98.41 percent. CyberLink has cooperated with several domestic and international companies to integrate FaceMeTM into existing services and products, positioning the engine to build business and consumer solutions that include smart retail, security, government, and AIoT applications.
Founded by the University of Washington, the MegaFace Challenge is the world’s first large-scale facial recognition algorithm competition. FaceMe’sTM ultra high precision model yields a less than 10-6 (0.000001) false acceptance rate (FAR), allowing it to rank globally within the top 20 facial recognition engines alongside well-renowned technology companies such as Google, Microsoft, Tencent, Sogou and Samsung Research. With such a high performing algorithm, FaceMeTM is now the leading AI facial recognition engine in Taiwan and is well positioned to become a global leader.
“Today’s MegaFace Challenge’s announcement from the University of Washington affirms CyberLink’s commitment to its high-end research capability in facial recognition technology on a worldwide scale,” said Dr. Jau Huang, CEO of CyberLink. “CyberLink strives to develop the most accurate and flexible cross-platform facial recognition algorithm with FaceMeTM, to strengthen smart life experiences with domestic and international system integrators.”
FaceMeTM, on top of providing highly precise facial recognition, is very flexible and can be easily integrated in hardware and software solutions across all key platforms such as Windows, Linux, Android and iOS. Its AI-based facial recognition engine can run smoothly on systems with less memory or with lower CPU/GPU computing power, allowing deployments into price sensitive mass market. FaceMeTM adjusts to system’s speed, accuracy and CPU/GPU acceleration, achieving quick integration into large-scale IPCs or smaller-scale AIoT devices.
In addition to being integrated into customers and partners’ solutions, FaceMeTM is included into Power Media Player (Android), CyberLink’s mobile application with over 2.5 million downloads. Power Media Player with FaceMeTM integration allows users to quickly search and tag faces across a large number of photos. CyberLink is further integrating its FaceMeTM technology into more self-developed products, to power the next generation multimedia experience.
