CyberLink FaceMe® Security 8.9.2 Brings Fully On-Camera Facial Recognition to Axis ACAP

Taipei, TAIWAN – [October 15, 2026] – CyberLink Corp. (5203.TW), a pioneer in AI and facial recognition technologies, today announced FaceMe® Security 8.9.2. The latest release brings facial recognition processing entirely onto compatible Axis cameras, lowering the total cost of ownership. It also introduces AI-assisted tools that make day-to-day security operations more efficient.

Built to harness the deep learning performance of the Axis ARTPEC-9 system-on-chip (SoC), the FaceMe Security ACAP (Axis Camera Application Platform) app now runs facial recognition 100% on the camera, eliminating dedicated recognition workstations along with the hardware, installation, and maintenance costs that come with them. This simplifies deployment and makes it easier to expand coverage as cameras are added.

FaceMe Security 8.9.2 also streamlines daily security operations. Compatible AI agents can search and summarize recognition records in natural language, reducing the time spent on investigations and reporting, while a new alarm management workflow lets teams assign responsibility for each alarm and track it through resolution. New Face Terminal capabilities record entry and exit on a single device, giving staff a current record of who is on site.

As organizations extend facial recognition to more entrances and sites, traditional deployments raise practical challenges:

・Hardware at every site: Dedicated recognition workstations add hardware, installation, and maintenance costs at each location.
・Time-consuming investigations: Finding the right events often requires manually filtering through logs.
・Unclear alarm ownership: In large deployments, alarms can be duplicated, missed, or left unresolved.

FaceMe Security 8.9.2 addresses these challenges with the following capabilities.

100% On-Camera Facial Recognition with Axis ACAP

Every step of facial recognition, from face detection to 1:N identity matching, now runs on the camera through the FaceMe Security ACAP app, delivering a truly workstation-free deployment. 100% on-camera recognition is available on ARTPEC-9 cameras.

FaceMe Security Central handles management tasks, including face enrollment, people databases, and recognition event review. It can be deployed on premises or hosted in the customer's own cloud, such as AWS. In on-premises deployments, operators continue to use Axis Camera Station or their existing VMS for live viewing and recording, with match results overlaid directly on the video stream.

The FaceMe Security ACAP app is also lightweight. According to CyberLink’s internal testing, FaceMe Security leverages AI acceleration to perform facial recognition on the AXIS Q3548-LVE camera, processing 510 people per hour against a database of 10,000 faces while utilizing only approximately 20% of CPU resources, leaving ample computing capacity for other applications. If the network connection is interrupted, facial recognition continues on the camera, and records synchronize automatically once the connection is restored. Data stored on the camera is protected with encryption.

AI Agents for Faster Investigations

FaceMe Security now supports compatible AI agents that use natural-language requests to search, analyze and retrieve recognition records for analysis through an MCP server. Customers deploy the MCP server on premises, to align with their own security policies. Users can ask an AI agent to “summarize today's facial recognition events,” identify employees with no recorded entry record for the day, compile weekly attendance reports, or prepare shift-handover summaries. These capabilities reduce the time spent manually reviewing event logs.

Accountable Alarm Response

In large-scale surveillance environments, it can be difficult to track alarms from initial detection through response and confirm whether each incident has been fully resolved. FaceMe Security 8.9.2 introduces a structured alarm management workflow that lets security teams assign each alarm an owner, track the response, and confirm it is resolved before closing it:

・Review alarms: Review incoming events and dismiss those that require no action.
・Assign ownership: Assign a Handler, set the priority, and provide response instructions.
・Track and close: Handlers report outcomes, while Reviewers verify results before closing alarms.

The workflow clarifies responsibility, helps prevent fewer duplicate or missed responses, and provides a traceable record of each alarm from detection to resolution.

Additional Enhancements

・Visitor Log: For factories, offices, and campuses, Face Terminal now records both entry and exit on a single device. Security staff can see who is currently on site, which is critical during emergency evacuations, and export visitor histories for reporting.
・People Group Sharing: Registered people groups, including blocklists, VIPs, employees, and registered visitors, can be shared across multiple FaceMe Security Central systems and synchronize automatically every day. This allows organizations to distribute a blocklist created at headquarters across their locations without having to enroll the same individuals again at each site.
・Branded check-in experience: The Check-in Add-on can display a custom background video, giving visitors a branded welcome at check-in.

“Organizations want facial recognition at every entrance without having to buy and maintain another PC at each site,” said Mei Guu, President of CyberLink Business Unit 2. “With facial recognition running entirely on compatible Axis cameras, FaceMe Security 8.9.2 reduces hardware requirements and simplifies maintenance. AI-assisted investigations and more accountable alarm management also help security teams find information faster and respond more effectively.”
