PowerDVD wins at “Intel Next Application Contest” - The Open Category winner awarded in Tokyo -

Tokyo, January 11, 1999 - CyberLink Corp’s latest DVD player product, PowerDVD, was given the Open Category Award at the Intel-sponsored contest held in Japan. According to Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink, “Once again, CyberLink has proven its capabilities in developing world-class software products.” In the award event held in Tokyo, Intel Japan president Nobuyuki Denda commented that there were so many outstanding programs submitted for the contest, making it very difficult to choose the winners.

According to the officials, there were as many as 68 candidate submissions for the contest, and only one winner was selected for each of the six categories, including Game, Edutainment, Online, and so on. PowerDVD walked away with the award in “Open Category,” that turned out to be the most crowded and thus competitive category fighting for the “highly creative and innovative application software that will push the possibility envelope of today's powerful PC,” according to the officials of the committee.

"For the first time, PC users can enjoy high-quality, feature-rich movies in the DVD media using PowerDVD. This product is a good example of what CyberLink's multimedia expertise could enable and deliver,” commented Nobby Yoshida, General Manager of CyberLink Japan in the award ceremony.
