CyberLink Showcased PowerDVD and PowerVCR at the Intel Pentium III Preview Day

CyberLink Corp. participated in Intel's Pentium III Processor Preview Day, a major event hosted by Intel at the San Jose Convention Center, which was held on February 17th. CyberLink was invited to showcase its latest versions of PowerDVD and PowerVCR optimized for the Pentium III Processor.

Both PowerDVD and PowerVCR are advanced MPEG video application software for the multimedia computer. "With the Katmai New Instruction Set and the high performances of the Pentium III processor, users will experience new levels of power and speed," stated Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp. "Which generates superior performances of digital video applications on the personal computer."

"CyberLink is part of an exciting new wave of video and audio software applications on the PC", said Tom Galvin, Director of Entertainment/ Education Market Development at Intel. "The combination of the Pentium III processor performance with CyberLink's PowerDVD and PowerVCR software will deliver a seamless, fluid user experience, helping to bring digital video to a new class of PC users."

CyberLink PowerVCR is the first Real-time software-only MPEG-1 recorder. It captures video directly from PC cameras, camcorders, VCRs, and TV tuners. According to Jean Lin, Product Manager of PowerVCR, "Pentium III speeds up file conversion time and enables faster frame rates recording producing better motion quality of the recorded video. PowerVCR also features “cut and paste” and comes with a CD-R recording function allowing users to produce their video on CD-ROMs.

CyberLink PowerDVD is a software-only DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) player, which brings high-quality movies and karaoke into the multimedia personal computer. PowerDVD allows users to playback high resolution MPEG-2 video with high quality 5.1-channel AC-3 surround audio. “The new version of PowerDVD for Pentium III results in faster and larger amount of video frame rates which transforms to high performance video and audio playback,” stated Alex Wung, Product Manager of CyberLink. Moreover, PowerDVD provides a complete set of commands for navigation and advanced control features such as seamless multi-angle switching and up to 32-language channels.
