Philips DVD-ReWriter Features High Quality, Rich-Featured DVD Playback from PowerDVD

Taipei, Taiwan----February 19, 2002----CyberLink Corp., a leading developer of digital video and multimedia streaming software, announced today that PowerDVD 3.0 is bundled with the DVD-ReWriter from Philips.

PowerDVD, the award-winning DVD playback software application, will be included with Phillip's DVD-ReWriter, a DVD+RW Drive for the PC designed to deliver robust compatibility with popular DVD and CD disc media available in the market for the consumer looking for expanded digital video experience on the PC. Included as part of the software bundle of Philips' first generation DVD+RW drive, PowerDVD provides sharp, vivid video and audio playback of DVD titles on any PC from 350 MHz CPU and up. The Philips DVD-ReWriter has been available in Europe and the United States since November 2001.

Additionally, the DVD-ReWriter, which complies with the DVD+RW standard optimized for PC and consumer applications, has been designed to not only read DVD-Video and DVD-Data discs, but also allows recordings made on DVD+RW to be played back in DVD-ROM drives for the PC, as well as in most DVD-Video players. CyberLink PowerDVD, one of the most popular DVD software players available in the market, enables the personal computer to play video files stored on all popular DVD-ROM and CD-ROM discs, as well as playback movies in DVD-Video or Video CD format.

According to Henk Veldhuis, Product Marketing Manager, Business Line Data, Philips Optical Storage, "Philips' new DVD writing products for the PC change the way people create and distribute their home videos. DVD fans can now create their own DVDs that can be played on a DVD player or on the PC. PowerDVD, with its unrivaled DVD playback quality and best in class feature set, is the right choice to bring this Hollywood-quality alive on a PC."

"It has been our pleasure to cooperate with Philips to bring the maximum video and audio playback of PowerDVD to their first generation DVD+RW drives," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp. "We are extremely pleased to be chosen by Philips for inclusion with the DVD-ReWriter, which is an ideal solution for the PC user looking for high-capacity data storage on rewritable discs and compatibility with DVD-ROMs or home DVD players."
