I-O Data Device Inc. obtains CyberLink DRM license to work
in coordination with bundled CyberLink PowerProducer 3 CPRM for GV-MVP/RX3
TV Capture Card
Tokyo, Japan---- November 7, 2005 ----CyberLink
Corp. (5203.TW), a world leader and pioneer in providing integrated solutions
for the Digital Home, announced today the licensing of CyberLink Digital Rights
Management (DRM) to I-O Data Device, Inc., a top-tier manufacturer and provider
of high-quality computer peripherals and interface products.
The development of CyberLink DRM is in response to the growing concern over
digital piracy. Content providers, such as movie studios and recording artists,
are increasing efforts in implementing DRM systems that secure distribution
methods of copyrighted content. The CyberLink DRM ensures premium content
captured from TV capture cards and stored on hard drives adhere to security
measures established by TV broadcasters, thus serving the role of protecting
the intellectual property rights of content providers.
Another integral DRM technology that works in partnership with CyberLink
DRM is Content Protection for Recordable Media (CPRM), a protection scheme
designed to prevent the unauthorized copying and distribution of content via
portable storage media such as DVDs and flash media devices. By choosing to
bundle CyberLink PowerProducer 3 CPRM version with its GV-MVP/RX3 TV Capture
Card, I-O Data Device, Inc. ensures the secure management of premium content
from the initial capturing phase to the final disc-burning phase. This distribution
scheme highlights the necessity of multiple DRM technologies - CyberLink DRM
and PowerProducer CPRM - working in conjunction to deliver extensive security
for digital media circulated via networks or the Internet.
I-O Data Device, Inc.'s GV-MVP/RX3 TV capture card features the copy-once
program (CGMS-A) that allows users to record content onto a hard drive once
from an external digital tuner. After the content is stored on the hard drive,
DVD authoring software CyberLink PowerProducer 3 CPRM - a special edition
developed with I-O Data Device, Inc.- assumes the burning task with a CPRM-supported
DVD-RW drive.
"With the increasing demand for content protection, I-O Data Device,
Inc. chose to collaborate with CyberLink because of their in-depth knowledge
of the digital home ecosystem," said Mitsukane Kato, Product Manager,
Entertainment Unit, I-O Data Device, Inc. "Our GV-MVP/RX3 TV capture
card users are in good steed when capturing secure TV broadcast transmissions
and burning it to disc with CyberLink DRM and PowerProducer 3 CPRM technologies."
"In today's age of media content going digital, protecting intellectual
property rights is paramount to advancing digital video technology and a very
high priority for CyberLink," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corp.
"We understand the urgency of content providers in initiating standards
to protect distribution of digital media. As a leading developer of burning
and creation software, CyberLink is committed to expediting DRM standards
for the protection of content owners' rights and the enjoyment of consumers.
The CyberLink DRM was conceived to answer this demand."
