CyberLink Launches Web-based Solution for Training Content Management

Untitled Document Taipei, Taiwan----December 12, 2001----CyberLink Corp., a leading software developer of digital video entertainment applications and e-Training solutions, today announced the release of its Training Content Management System (TCMS), a web-based application that allows organizations to manage and develop human capital effectively.

"Human capital is a vital key to success in the information based economy," says Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink Corporation. "CyberLink has introduced TCMS as a means to maximize human capital investments for organizations by providing effective ways to deliver various knowledge assets among its employees, partners, suppliers and customers."

CyberLink TCMS is a technological advancement that is ideal for taking static existing training materials, as well as dynamic rich-media presentations, and delivering them in a cost-efficient and tailored manor through an online learning environment. TCMS enables any organization to take training materials and publish them to a centralized content repository, where they can be easily managed through TCMS's customizable XML-based interface. These training materials can then be delivered to the learner via the Web and the results can be measured through TCMS's dynamic survey mechanism. TCMS allows today's corporations to effectively build up and sustain competitiveness by offering their staff, business partners, and customers the flexibility and efficiency of online learning via an integrated Web-based e-Training solution.

Set-up and Publish Training Materials with Ease
In an effort to provide maximum benefits for all those involved in the online learning process, CyberLink TCMS delivers numerous, powerful features and a simplified process for Publishing, Managing, Delivering and Measuring the effectiveness of training materials. TCMS offers a straightforward setup procedure and an auto-detect system for recognizing server platforms, which allow any organization's MIS department to have the system up within its existing infrastructure in no time. Publishers can then proceed in adding any files that are viewable on the Web, including videos and URLs, and publishing them to the TCMS content repository, where they can be easily managed, organized, and viewed. TCMS also offers the added benefit of being fully compatible with CyberLink StreamAuthor, the company's innovative software solution that allows organizations to create and publish interactive rich-media presentations. Additionally, any file published with TCMS can be given password protection so that it is only viewable by those who have been granted access.

Flexible Management: Well Suited to Global Organizations
Managing large volumes of training materials can be a challenging task for any organization, so CyberLink equipped TCMS with various functions to make the process as straightforward as possible. CyberLink TCMS comes with such useful features as an on-demand content library so that files can be easily located, a customizable user interface, and flexible language options for global operations With CyberLink TCMS, organizations will not only have an effective system for managing their training materials, but also one that can reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). This is due to TCMS's ability to work under various operating systems and server platforms (such as MS Windows, Oracle, Linux, etc.), allowing an organization to deploy the system within their existing infrastructure.

Smooth Delivery and Administration
In order for any online learning program to be completed and delivered in a smooth process, various levels of access and control are necessary. Therefore, CyberLink created TCMS with four different levels: Learner, Publisher, Mentor, and Administrator. Learners can view files both online or offline (by downloading materials as an .exe file or in its native format), browse categories, and easily search for the files they require. Publishers have all the privileges of a Learner with the added benefit of being able to publish files, create folders, adjust/delete files, and create surveys. The Mentor role was designed for supervisors or managers who need to oversee the entire process. They have the ability to make news announcements, view private items, and view activity logs. The Administrator level is reserved for MIS or IT staff that are in charge of setting up TCMS and configuring it for the organization.

Trackable and Measurable Results
The ability to track and measure results of any training program is of utmost importance to any organization, so that they can ascertain the effectiveness of the training program and analyze the return on investment. Therefore, CyberLink TCMS offers an effective means for those implementing training programs to easily develop surveys, which can be attached to published training materials, and returned to a centralized location for automatic processing of results. The results can be securely viewed by the Publisher when evaluating the effectiveness of the materials for the Learner(s) and measure their return on investment.
