A college housing community in New Jersey needed a more reliable way to identify banned individuals before they entered its properties. Previously, security personnel relied on recognizing people from photos, leaving room for someone to go unnoticed.
The challenge is particularly significant for stretched security teams. According to Campus Safety Magazine's 2025 Campus Safety Salary and Benefits Benchmark Survey, 81% of participating college, K-12, and hospital security and public safety agencies reported that they did not have enough sworn officers.¹
The community deployed FaceMe® Security across monitored entrances, integrating it with its existing Wisenet WAVE video management system from Hanwha Vision. The deployment provides 24/7 coverage through the cameras already in place, without requiring additional staff or camera infrastructure.
Staffing shortages have made continuous entrance monitoring increasingly difficult. Rather than expanding security headcount, the community sought a technology-based solution that could enhance situational awareness using existing resources.
The community needed to:
Integrated with the community’s existing Wisenet WAVE video management system from Hanwha Vision, FaceMe Security continuously and automatically compares faces captured at monitored entrances against the community's banned-persons list. When a potential match is detected, security personnel receive an alert for review. Staff remain responsible for confirming potential matches and determining the appropriate response.
The community controls who is placed on its banned-persons list, the reason for inclusion, how long related records are retained, and who can access the information. Potential matches can be reviewed by authorized personnel before any action is taken.
FaceMe Security can also be configured not to retain records of individuals who are not recognized. This helps limit stored information to people who generate a relevant match rather than creating a record of everyone who passes through the monitored entrances.
FaceMe Security gives the housing community a consistent way to identify banned-person matches while allowing security personnel to focus on patrols, resident needs, and other responsibilities. Staff can review alerts as they arise instead of relying on manual comparison against a photo list.
