How do I blur out (add mosaic effect) people or objects in a video in CyberLink PowerDirector 365?

In the new version of PowerDirector 365 (released after Apr. 2025), the Motion Tracker has been redesigned and moved to the "Tracking" tab on the top of the quick editing panel. The workflow to add blur/mosaic effect has been changed in the new Motion Tracking feature. We suggest you follow the steps below to apply a blur/mosaic effect to your video:

To blur out people's faces in video in PowerDirector 365, do this:

  1. Add the video that has people's faces on the timeline.
  2. Go to Effects Room > Video Effects > Face Blur.
  3. Select an effect and drag it onto the video clip on the timeline.
  4. After analyzing, select the video on the timeline and then click the button above the timeline to modify the effect settings if needed.

To add blur/mosaic effect to blur out object (or faces) in video in PowerDirector 365, do this:

  1. Add the video that contains the object you want to blur to the timeline.
  2. Go to Effects Room > Video Effects and find the Blur or Mosaic effect under Haze and Texture tags separately.
  3. Apply the effect to the video in the timeline.
  4. In the Effect Settings page, select the rectangle or circle mask1.
  5. Enable the Apply motion tracking option.
  6. A yellow tracking box will then display in the preview window. Drag and resize this box to fit over the object in your video that you want to track.
  7. Click the Track button to start the motion tracking process.
  8. After tracking, check the preview window to see if the added mask is following the object the way you expect.

Note:

  1. The Motion Tracking option in the Effect Setting page is only available when using rectangle or circle mask. It is not available when using AI-Based Object Mask or Auto Object Selection currently.
